The Perrin Technique
The Perrin Technique(™) is a hands-on approach used to diagnose and treat ME/CFS. It is based on the theory that various stressors—whether physical, emotional, chemical, or immunological (such as allergies or infections)—can overload the sympathetic nervous system, contributing to the development of ME/CFS and Long Covid symptoms.
The Perrin TechniqueTM is an osteopathic method developed in 1989, initially for ME/CFS, designed to manually remove toxins from the cerebrospinal fluid and direct them into the lymphatic system. Through spinal movement and soft tissue massage in the head, neck, back, and chest, the technique helps expel toxins from the lymphatic system into the bloodstream, where they are ultimately detoxified by the liver.
As the toxins have less impact on the central nervous system, the hypothalamus and sympathetic nervous system start to function properly, leading to a restoration of health.

The Perrin Technique Consultation Procedure
First appointment involves consultation, assessment / diagnosis and treatment if the patient can manage. You are asked before attending the appointment, to complete a provided consultation form online with your full detailed past history, and a specific diagnostic questionnaire. This will include the diagnostic history in relation to your presenting condition, for conditions such as ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Long Covid, and other forms of Post Viral Fatigue.
During the 90 minutes first appointment, a more specific and detailed case history is taken, and any prior investigations discussed, so these can be taken into consideration. If clinically appropriate, you may be asked to dress down to allow me to look at the presenting problems, and perform the required diagnostic assessments (please ensure you are fully aware of what this entails, and have had this explained to you when booking the initial consultation, and before attending an appointment.)
You will be asked to perform simple motions to help me assess your posture and interpret this in relationcto your presenting complaint.cNext, a detailed passive examination will be conducted, along with specific investigations. A diagnosis will then be discussed, and introduction treatment will be provided.

How many Perrin Technique sessions will you need?
Dr Perrin recommends 12 weekly sessions for significant improvement. At this point, we have a review and work out a longer-term, individualised treatment plan.
Most patients experience gradual but significant symptom relief, with many able to discontinue medications. Consistent treatment and self-care provide the best long-term results. Abilities and stamina continue improving over time.
The Perrin Technique helps alleviate fatigue and brain fog in CFS patients by tackling toxin accumulation and nervous system strain. Many patients experience enhanced energy, better focus, and an improved ability to carry out daily activities.
